Start your career in the IT Infrastructure and Technical Support sector, and get qualified to become Sys Admin.

EmployNZ offers face to face, practical IT training, in the Tauranga CBD. We have small class sizes and run the programme in a simulated IT Support workplace environment, then move on to using Azure Cloud to build and deploy functional servers, clients, and services.

Enrol in the IT Diploma in Technical Support, Level 5, decide to go to work from there or move on to the Diploma IT Infrastructure – Systems Administration, Level 6.

 

Diploma in IT Technical Support ( Level 5) - Module Outlines

Module 1: Hardware Fundamentals

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of hardware fundamentals that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Install IT hardware in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Perform configuration and maintenance of IT hardware in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Troubleshoot IT Hardware in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Operate as an IT Professional for clients working with hardware related service requests according to the IT Professionals Code of Ethics

Within this module learners will be assessed in how to work and behave as an IT Professional while working with Hardware.

Module 2: Network Fundamentals

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of network fundamentals that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Install networks in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Perform configuration and maintenance of networks in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Analyse and solve network related issues in accordance with organisational requirements.
  • Operate as an IT Professional for clients with network related service requests according to the IT Professionals Code of Ethics

Within this module learners will be assessed in how to work and behave as an IT Professional while working with Networks.

Module 3: Software Fundamentals

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of software fundamentals that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Install software in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Perform configuration and maintenance of software in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Troubleshoot software in accordance with organisational requirements
  • Operate as an IT Professional for clients with software related service requests according to the IT Professionals Code of Ethics

Within this module learners will be assessed in how to work and behave as an IT Professional while working with software.

Module 4: Programming Fundamentals

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of small office home office networks that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Create a simple working application plan to meet a given scenario
  • Create a simple working application to meet a given scenario
  • Test and document simple working applications to meet given scenarios

Module 5: Database Fundamentals

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of database fundamentals that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Apply database query languages in a manner that meets database management system requirements
  • Configure a database to meet a given scenario
  • Apply critical analysis and decision-making techniques to resolve database administration issues
  • Operate as an IT Professional for clients with data and information related service requests according to the IT Professionals Code of Ethics

Within this module learners will be assessed in how to work and behave as an IT Professional while working with Database solutions.

Module 6: Business Systems and User Interface Design

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of business systems and user interface design that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Demonstrate knowledge of information systems concepts and practice within the context of NZ business environments
  • Develop an information systems plan for a NZ business within the context of their design and technological constraints
  • Create an interactive website for a NZ business using user experience and interface design concepts
  • Operate as an IT Professional while working with clients to address IT business needs according to the IT Professionals Code of Ethics

Within this module learners will be assessed in how to work and behave as an IT Professional while working with Business Systems and User Interface Design solutions.

Module 7: Networking Technologies - Small Office and Home Office

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of small office and home office networks that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Apply knowledge of common configuration concepts of Small Office and Home Office networks to meet organisational needs
  • Establish a basic Small Office Home Office network using both wired and wireless technologies
  • Troubleshoot common issues in a Small Office and Home Office network(s)
  • Operate as an IT Professional for clients with Small Office and Home and Office networks requests according to the IT Professionals Code of Ethics

Within this module learners will be assessed in how to work and behave as an IT Professional while working with Small office home office networks.

Module 8: Networking Technologies – Enterprise

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of enterprise networks that will support them in their technical support role. Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to:

  • Establish an Enterprise network using both wired and wireless technologies
  • Design the configuration of an Enterprise network to meet a given scenario
  • Troubleshoot common issues in Enterprise networks
  • Operate as an IT Professional for clients with Enterprise networks service requests according to the IT Professionals Code of Ethics

Within this module learners will be assessed in how to work and behave as an IT Professional while working with Enterprise networks.

Diploma In IT Infrastructure ( Level 6) - Module Outlines

Module 1: Virtualisation Infrastructure

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of virtualisation infrastructure that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to install and configure virtualisation environments, deploy and automate the deployment of virtual machines to meet organisational needs and operate as an IT Professional.

Module 2: Virtualisation Application

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of virtualisation applications that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to plan deployment of server services and roles, install and configure network services to meet organisational requirements and operate as an IT Professional.

Module 3: Cloud Fundamentals

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of cloud fundamentals that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to develop a plan to deploy hosts, deploy hosts, automate the deployment of standards system procedures in a cloud environment to meet organisational requirements and operate as an IT Professional.

Module 4: Cloud Enterprise Services

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of cloud enterprise services that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to plan cost and billing management, deploy infrastructure as code services, deploy a range of cloud services to meet organisational requirements and operate as an IT Professional.

Module 5: IT Systems Infrastructure and Administration

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of IT Systems Infrastructure and Administration services that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to apply security best practices for networks, install and configure networks in a cloud environment, troubleshoot and protect networks to meet organisational requirements and operate as an IT Professional.

Module 6: Network Infrastructure Services - Directory Services

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of Network Infrastructure Services – Directory Services that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to develop a plan for multi-site services and implement multi-site directory services to meet organisational requirements.

Module 7: Network Infrastructure Services - Sites and Services

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of Network Infrastructure Services – Sites and Services that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to create objects for active directory, configure Active Directory services to meet organisational requirements and operate as an IT Professional.

Module 8: IT Systems Redundancy, Resilience and High Availability

The purpose of this module is for learners to gain applied knowledge of IT Systems Redundancy, Resilience and High Availability that will support them in their systems administration role(s).

Learners will gain applied knowledge and skills of how to create plans for redundancy, resilience, and high availability and implement redundancy, resilience, and high availability to meet organisational requirements and operate as an IT Professional.
