Our full time structured English Language programmes provide a clear pathway, guiding you step-by-step towards your goals.
We offer courses across a range of levels, carefully aligned with internationally recognised ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) curricula and English proficiencies, mapped to the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).
We also use the TEC Literacy for Adults Assessment Tool and ESOL performance framework.
Everyone starts with different levels of english, and our tutors will interview you to understand your current abilities and place you on the right course.
Here’s a look at our pathway:
1. Pre Beginners Course: This introductory course is perfect for those with little to no English experience. You’ll learn basic greetings, numbers, and everyday phrases, building a foundation for future learning. We focus on creating a comfortable and supportive environment where you can build confidence in speaking and listening.
2. Beginners Course: Building on your initial steps, this course introduces you to fundamental grammar and vocabulary. You’ll practice simple conversations about yourself, your family, and your daily life. We focus on practical communication skills you can use right away.
3. English Language for Everyday Life in NZ (Elementary Course): This course focuses on navigating daily life in New Zealand. You’ll learn about local customs, traditions, and essential phrases for shopping, asking for directions, and understanding everyday situations. We focus on building your confidence in using English in real-world scenarios.
4. Work & Study (Pre-Intermediate Course): This course prepares you for further education or employment. You’ll develop your reading, writing, and listening skills to a level where you can understand more complex information. We focus on building your vocabulary and grammar for effective communication in a work or study environment.
Course Dates and Pathways
Our full time English courses follow the 10 week school terms and dates to help students with school aged children.
We review student’s progress and when ready, they can move up to the next level English course.
When student goals have been met and it is time to leave EmployNZ we will work with students and their support people as they move onto another course with another organisation, or as they look for work.
