From IT & Computing to a Business Diploma

Success for us is when we see students pathway from one course to the next. A great example of this is the journey Erin Pickett has had with us. Erin started in IT Skills level 2 and then moved on to Computing level 3 in our Tauranga campus. She has since progressed to the Diploma in Business (Accounting) level 5. Erin says what she has enjoyed the most is “becoming aware of my future career path, I now want to work in an accounting firm” We wish Erin all the best and of course will try to help her achieve that goal once she graduates. EmployNZ offer courses from NCEA level 1 to Diploma level 7 in Tauranga New Zealand.

New Courses at EmployNZ – Trades Training, Early Childhood, Cookery & ESOL

EmployNZ is super excited to announce that on July 1st we will be taking over many of the courses previously offered by the Salvation Army Education & Employment in Tauranga and Whakatane, as well as the ESOL courses offered at Waitakere and Royal Oak in Auckland. This is a huge deal for students who are currently studying with the Salvation Army as they can now complete the same qualification with EmployNZ. It also means EmployNZ will have a much wider range of courses available including Automotive, Construction, Cookery and Early Childhood Education available in the Bay of Plenty area, along with the ESOL courses available in Waitakere and Royal Oak. These courses align with labour market shortages in the Bay of Plenty, and will be fantastic way for students to gain NCEA or a NZ Certificate in a relevant trades qualification. Pre-employment support for people with a disability or health condition

EmployNZ is pleased to announce a new programme to support people with a disability or health condition into employment. The Disability Employment Support Programme is being offered in Tauranga and Rotorua, and includes one on one assistance to help plan and prepare for work. Topics covered include career planning, confidence and motivation, CV and cover letter, interview practice, help applying for jobs and on-going support once employed. CareerFit at the Rotorua Career Expo

Cody from our Rotorua CareerFit course and Esira from our Rotorua NCEA level 1 course had a great time meeting local students at the Rotorua Career Expo recently. Our Hospitality Students get Jobs!

We always help our graduates get jobs, often this happens as a result of the work experience they do as part of the course. The Hospitality Skills NCEA 2 and Cafe Skills level 3 courses we offer in Tauranga both include on the job training. Check out Lily with her boss Kim at "Carve It Up" in the Bayfair Mall in Tauranga. Awesome work Kata!

Before Kata Minhinnick started his journey with EmployNZ, he wasn’t doing much. “I was doing maintenance in the avocado orchards. I was going to do fruit picking but glad I didn’t” he explains. Instead he enrolled onto the CareerFIT level 2 course where he learnt about fitness, nutrition and exercise as well as completing his NCEA L2. “I never knew how to get fit, but since I’ve joined thecourse my fitness has improved and I’m more active.” During his time on the course, Kata’s parents have noticed improvements in his behaviour and attitude. “I’m not getting into trouble like I use to.” Kata has had a very positive experience at EmployNZ and says he’ll miss the ‘vibes’ the most. “I enjoyed meeting new people, making new friends, staying active and keeping out of trouble. The class is fun – everyone has a good sense of humour” he explains. Kata has successfully completed the course and plans to continue his education to complete NCEA L3.

Briana and Olivia were referred to EmployNZ by Face & Beauty Academy last year. They needed to complete their NCEA L1 before they could enrol in the Face & Beauty Hairdressing course. They have since completed NCEA and are now enrolled with Face & Beauty. Briana says “It was great to earn the NCEA credits we needed at EmployNZ before continuing on with other study opportunities."
