Tyler Reid-Dooling has just completed his Cookery (NCEA Level 2) course at the EmployNZ Tauranga Campus. Tyler found the cookery course to be an amazing experience and said it helped build his self-confidence with learning and furthering his social skills. He loved making some great new friends in class. Congratulations to our Careers Unlimited (NCEA Level 1) graduate- Sam Atkins
Sam Atkins has just completed her Careers Unlimited (NCEA Level 1) course at our Trade Centre in Mount Maunganui. She found the course immensely helpful and said it had a real family feel. She got to be active a lot and participate in many fitness-related activities that our CareerFit (NCEA Level 2) students were doing, and it really matched her own learning style. Congratulations to our ESOL for Work and Study (Pre-Intermediate) graduate- Zahra
Zahra is one of our Refugee students’ who started her ESOL journey in our English for Everyday Life in New Zealand (Elementary) course and progressed into our ESOL for Work and Study course. She joined EmployNZ to learn English so she could communicate and be able to work in the future. Zahra said she really enjoyed her time in the course and her tutors were very supportive. Zahra has now been accepted to start a New Zealand Certificate in the English Language at Unitec Institute of Technology. After that, she plans to work in Childcare because she loves children. “I use to stay at home when I first came to New Zealand as I couldn’t communicate and was scared to talk to people. After learning ESOL, I feel better and happy to talk easily, go outside, go shopping, and talk to other people. I enjoyed my time in both courses, and my tutors are very kind and supportive. Abraham Sundin (Abe) has just completed his NCEA Level 2 CareerFit course. Abe said he really enjoyed the course and found the tutors to be really helpful. Unlike school, he found the course motivating, and he always looked forward to class every morning. Abe enjoyed meeting new people the most as the rolling intake meant that new people were coming in all the time. He said that the course has made him more active and plans to keep up his fitness routine. Temara has just completed her Building & Construction (NCEA Level 2 ) course at our Mount Maunganui, Tauranga Campus. She said she really enjoyed making new friends and learning to use different tools. For her, it was a great way to gain NCEA level 2 and has opened up doors to a lot of opportunities for her. She always aimed to do something with her life and feels that this set her on her way to achieving more. Her plan is to do further studies in the Electrical field at Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology. “I had the best teachers. As a serious Netballer, Sarah found the Career Fit (NCEA Level 2) course very suitable for her. She enjoyed the practical aspect of learning outside of the classroom and found her Tutors Nikki and Jock to be amazing and supportive people. She feels confident and all prepared for her next step as she has been offered a coaching apprenticeship and she believes she has gained a lot of skills through the course to back her up. Sarah had tried a lot of schooling options and had not found the right fit until she came to EmployNZ.
