Covid-19 Update Tue 24 Mar 2020

Dear Parents/Whānau, As you know the government is placing New Zealand into an alert level 4 from 12.01am on the 26th March. What this means is that all our sites will be closed for the 4 week period to all students, staff and visitors from 5pm Tuesday. Our tutors will keep in contact with all existing students over this period using Microsoft Teams; a way to keep in touch, share resources and activities. We will be updating students regularly through MS Teams and all updates will be on the EmployNZ Website. We want to wish everyone a safe break and would like to ensure you that we will be doing everything we can to support students through these uncertain times. Here are the answers to Frequently Asked Questions during this period: Q: “I’m a current student, do my classes continue?” Yes. Our teaching staff are all available via email and via Microsoft Teams (you will get an invite shortly if you haven’t already). Teaching continues remotely whilst our branches are closed. Q: “I’d like to start a course, are you taking enrolments?” Yes. Our admin team are all available via email and will continue to answer questions and process enrolments during this time. This means you will be all set up to join us in person once in-person classes resume in a few weeks from now.

EmployNZ is incredibly mindful of the health and safety of our students, clients, staff, and community and as such will be updating you and your learners of any day to day schedule changes as the Covid19 situation evolves.  The Ministry of Health has been working through its pandemic plan and has implemented a range of measures to minimise the impact of Covid19 on New Zealanders. As you will all be aware New Zealand has actioned its national pandemic plan which is currently at the ‘keep it out’ phase. With these recent measures in place from the government, it is vital to adhere to the following recommendations. All students who have been in contact with someone returning to New Zealand after 1am, 16 March will need to stay at home and self-isolate. Congratulations to Nadia for completing the Workplace Skills (NCEA Level 2) Course with business admin and computing skills

It's always great to hear from our students when they are getting ready to graduate and starting to reflect on their time with us.   Nadia started out on our Literacy and Numeracy course in Tauranga and quickly advanced to Workplace Skills (Level 2) to learn Business Admin and Computing skills. As you can see from the photo, Nadia had a great relationship with her Tutor.   After not having a great experience in the larger mainstream school system Nadia decided it was time to leave and EmployNZ was her next move. We were able to assist with her early exemption from school and get her on to the next step.   Nadia really felt that the workplace focused learning we provide worked for her and said: "EmployNZ really catered to my needs and abilities. Its easier to understand and suits me" Nadia's Mother also mentioned that she felt EmployNZ was "the perfect transition to adulthood." EmployNZ offer FEES FREE courses in Hospitality, Sport & Fitness, Business Admin, Construction, Auto Trades and Cooking with options in Tauranga, Rotorua and Whakatane.
