Cafe Skills - NZ Cert Level 3

Our Level 3 Café Skills is a continuation of our hospitality programme. Students will gain a deeper understanding of barista skills and food and beverage handling.

Café Skills Level 3 covers more about the products the students are working with and further improve on customer service skills.

More emphasis is placed on work experience at Level 3 so here students will learn real-world skills and gain hands-on experience while learning.

Café Skills is a fee-paying programme which we run from our site in Tauranga (CBD).

Early Childhood Education - NZ Cert Level 3

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) level 3 programme is intended for people who want to participate in the education and care of infants, toddlers, and young children in an entry level career role.

ECE level 3 is aimed at people who want to learn who to nurture the development and learning of young children, gain the New Zealand Certificate in Early Childhood Education L3 and progress into a career or higher level study in ECE.

ECE Level 3 is a fee paying programme which we run from our site in Tauranga (CBD).

Your Pathway:

This programme includes the opportunity to gain an internationally recognised IT Certification from CompTIA (Computing Technology Industry Association).

Completing the Diploma in IT Technical Support Level 5 prepares you to get an entry level Support Technician job, or you can pathway into the Diploma in Systems Administration Level 6 and train to become a Sys Admin.

Entry Prerequisites:

  • You must bring your own laptop. Specifications will be provided at enrollment.
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of enrolment.
  • Applicants are recommended to hold one of the following qualifications OR have equivalent knowledge, skills and experience:
    • Have achieved NCEA Level 2 or 3 with an interest or some experience working with computers and/or credits in IT and computing subjects; and/or
    • New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Intermediate User) (Level 3)
    • New Zealand Certificate in Computing (Advanced User) (Level 4)
    • New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Essentials (Level 4)

Fees Free

The Government has announced that Fees Free for the first year of study or training will finish at the end of 2024. A final-year Fees Free policy will replace it, starting from 1 January 2025.

If you are a first-time tertiary learner in 2025, you may be able to get Fees Free for your final year of study or training. If you are eligible, you will need to apply for your entitlement through IRD from 2026 onwards.

New Zealand Diploma in IT Infrastructure – Systems Administration - Level 6

IT Infrastructure – Systems Administration

This programme has a practical, hands-on focus which enables learners to demonstrate their transferable knowledge, skills and aptitudes in one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries and is targeted at those who have already achieved the qualification New Zealand Diploma in Information Technology Technical Support (Level 5) and/or people who have equivalent qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience and are working towards a career in the IT industry as System Administrators.

Teaching and learning are focussed on real-life scenarios that System Administrators would encounter in the workplace. You will have access to your own Azure Cloud account to build and deploy functional servers, clients, and services so you can gain technical and project management skills in the areas of: virtualisation infrastructure and application; cloud fundamentals and enterprise services; IT systems infrastructure and administration; network infrastructure services, and IT systems redundancy, resilience, and higher availability.

You will also learn to operate within the applicable professional standards and codes of ethics, independently and/or as part of a team developing the essential communication, reporting and project management skills you will need to become a sucessful Sys Admin in today’s IT sector.

Your Pathway:

This qualification provides a pathway to further specialisation through industry specific training such as in IT Security or other Diploma or Graduate level qualifications. Graduates of this qualification will have the skills and knowledge to gain employment in entry level roles such as IT technician, help desk, tier 1 and 2 desktop support, systems administration, or in application support. Graduates will also have the background to progress into more advanced roles such as senior system administrator or application support analyst roles.

Who is this course for?

The IT Diploma is eligible for the governments Fees Free policy, so they pay your fees, if this will be your first year of tertiary study. For more information see the TEC, Fees free website.

If you are not eligble for Fees Free, the course costs $9,581.00 (TBC). We are Studylink approved and can help you apply.

Once eligibility has been established, students are selected by interview. Selection is based on a number of things including age, how suitable the course is for the student’s goals, attitude to learning, ability to function in an adult environment and fit in with existing groups, as well as committing to attending, course achievement and a pathway to employment or further education.
